Solar energy is one of the most available sources on earth. Its large scale implementation will depend on new developments leading to a reduction in the cost-per-watt.
Nanowire solar cell arrays are one of the most credible candidates for such a challenge.
Novel heterostructures enabled by nanowires will also enable to include new physical mechanisms to further improve the efficiency.
